The Mechanical BIM Professional Program equips students with industry-ready skills in Mechanical BIM Modeling, Coordination, and Documentation.

Through hands-on training in Revit, focusing on HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection, along with Navisworks Manage and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), students gain practical experience with real-world BIM workflows and project-based learning, preparing them for global career opportunities.

In today's construction industry, BIM is an essential skill for mechanical engineers working in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and other building services — especially on US and UAE projects.

What You'll Do as a Mechanical BIM Engineer

  • Model HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems using Autodesk Revit.
  • Develop accurate 3D BIM models based on design drawings and project standards.
  • Perform clash detection and coordination using Autodesk Navisworks Manage.
  • Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and MEP teams during BIM coordination meetings.
  • Prepare coordinated drawings, shop drawings, BOQs, schedules, and fabrication-ready models.
  • Review and resolve design conflicts before construction begins.
  • Manage project data and collaborate using Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).
  • Ensure compliance with international BIM standards, client requirements, and project specifications.
  • Work on large-scale international projects, including commercial buildings, hospitals, airports, residential towers, hotels, industrial facilities, and metro infrastructure.

  • Introduction — difference between CAD & Revit, file extensions, user interface
  • Starting a Revit Project — templates, linking Revit models and CAD drawings, copy levels and grids, monitoring, standalone vs central vs BIM 360 files
  • Worksharing — worksets, central files on LAN server / BIM 360, local files, ownership, detaching
  • Basic Drawing & Editing Tools — selection filters, move, copy, rotate, mirror, array, trim, align, scale, offset, groups
  • Detailing — floor plans, sections, elevations, callouts, drafting views
  • Annotation & Documentation — dimensions, line styles, regions, detail components, tags, legends
  • Sheet Creation & Printing — sheets and schedules, guide grids, viewports, title blocks, revisions, print sets
  • Spaces & Zones — rooms and room tags, room schedules, spaces, space separation, zones
  • Mechanical (HVAC) — mechanical settings, equipment & air terminals, duct and pipe modeling, routing preferences, fittings and accessories, system classification, graphic overrides, filters, airflow
  • HVAC BIM Advanced — equipment connections, flexible ducts, duct accessories, mechanical rooms, HVAC coordination
  • Plumbing — plumbing fixtures, pipe placeholders and modeling, pipe types, routing preferences, insulation, systems, graphic overrides, reading plumbing drawings
  • Plumbing BIM Advanced — domestic water, drainage, vent, storm water, pipe accessories
  • Fire Protection — sprinkler types, fire pipe systems, FHC, risers, foam cylinders, fire brigade connections, system classification, disconnects
  • Fire Protection BIM Advanced — wet system, dry system, riser modeling, pump room, sprinkler layout
  • Revit Families — family templates and categories, instance vs type properties, parameters and constraints, shared parameters, MEP connectors, equipment families, catalogue-based families, title block families
  • Schedules — MEP schedules and quantities, fields, filters, sorting and grouping, formatting

  • Introduction to the Interface — ribbon, toolsets, selection tree, workspace, view controls, model hierarchy and discipline segregation
  • Setting Up a Coordination Model — exporting discipline models from Revit (NWC workflow), appending and managing multiple discipline models, federated coordination models, NWC/NWD file types
  • Visualization, Animation & Walkthroughs — model visualization for coordination and review, walkthroughs, basic animations, saving viewpoints
  • Clash Detection & BIM Coordination — clash tests (hard, soft, clearance), analyzing and grouping clash results, managing clash issues through viewpoints, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams using clash reports

  • Introduction to ACC & BIM 360 — difference between BIM 360 and ACC, real-time collaboration, cloud-based workflows, ACC modules (Docs, Build, Collaborate, Takeoff)
  • User Interface & Project Navigation — platform navigation, dashboard, multiple projects, role-based access and permissions
  • Document Management (Docs) — uploading and organizing drawings and models, version control, markups, issues, comments, comparing drawing versions
  • Model Coordination & Review — viewing and navigating 3D models in browser, clash viewing, section views, properties and measurements, assigning and tracking issues
  • Real Project Collaboration Workflow — architect, structural & MEP coordination use case, exporting issues and reports

Industry-Mentored International Projects

Four high-detail BIM project practices based on real project data, developed up to LOD 200, LOD 300 & LOD 350 under expert supervision.

  • Project 1 — Commercial HVAC Building (UAE-Based) Develop a BIM model at LOD 200, creating a refined model with approximate geometry and system placement while learning to model HVAC systems in Revit from design inputs.
  • Project 2 — Residential Plumbing System (US / UAE-Based) Develop a BIM model at LOD 200 and learn to model piping systems in Revit using the relevant design inputs.
  • Project 3 — Hospital Fire Protection System (US / UAE-Based) Develop 3D models of a fire sprinkler system using Revit.
  • Project 4 — Integrated Mechanical BIM Coordination (US / UAE-Based) Integrate HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems into a single coordinated BIM model for a commercial building, learning to identify and resolve clashes, maintain model accuracy, and prepare a coordinated model ready for documentation and project delivery.

Note: This program focuses on industry-mentored BIM project training and does not include an external site internship.
